What the pilot levels mean and which level you need to fly at Babadağ.

This guide gives information to licensed pilots, it does not provide training. Knowing what each level means at Babadağ and where you can train is still useful, both for beginners and for pilots looking to move up.

P3 minimum to fly here

To fly from the Babadağ takeoffs under your own responsibility you need at least a P3 licence. P2 pilots may fly only from the altitude and within the wind limits that instructor pilots consider suitable.

Every level is defined by its own limit of responsibility.

Pilot levels

P2 Student Pilot Basic takeoff, flight and landing, flown under instructor supervision. Cannot fly at Babadağ on their own judgement.
P3 Novice Pilot The basics of thermal and ridge flying. May fly solo on a single seat wing under their own responsibility. The minimum level for Babadağ.
P4 Intermediate Pilot Thermal centring, active piloting and intermediate SIV manoeuvres.
P5 Advanced Pilot Competition strategy, FAI triangles and advanced meteorology.
T1 Tandem Pilot Passenger briefing, weight calculation and tandem flight. Requires P5.
Amateur tandem flight

An amateur pilot may not carry out commercial tandem flights. Non commercial tandem flight requires at least a Tandem certificate, and notification must be given to the Slot Service Centre at least five days before the flight. Flight registration

SIV and XC camps

Alongside the level courses there are intensive programmes focused on particular skills.

One of the schools teaching in Ölüdeniz is MagicFly Paragliding School. It runs level courses from P2 to P5, T1 tandem training, and SIV and XC camps.
