Getting There

You cannot drive to the takeoff sites. The cable car runs to 1700 and a free shuttle covers the upper sites.

You cannot drive yourself to the takeoff sites at Babadağ. There are two ways up: the cable car, or the vehicles of the tandem operators. Getting to the upper sites is then done by shuttle from the 1700 station.

No private vehicles

Private vehicle access to the takeoff area and parking there are prohibited. Pilots arriving in a rental car have to leave it below. Motorised and non-motorised vehicles are not permitted into the area where the landing zones are either.

The cable car

The only ways up are the cable car and operator vehicles.

Babadağ Teleferik runs from sea level up to 1700 metres. The main takeoff at 1700 is right beside the top station, so you can walk from the cable car straight to launch.

Cable car hours change with the season. If you plan to fly early, find out when the first car runs, because launching early is often the only option here. Local weather

Shuttle to the upper sites

Free for pilots

Because the cable car ends at 1700, getting to 1800, 1900 North and Patara is done by shuttle from the 1700 station. The service is free for pilots, but only pilots who came up by cable car can use it.

If the wind is from the northerly sector, 1700 is closed while 1800 and 1900 North are open. In easterly and southeasterly winds the only option is Patara. In those cases you change site by shuttle after arriving at the top, so knowing which site is open before you go up saves time. The live wind page shows both the readings and the official status of each site.

Fees

The site fee and the cable car fare are paid separately. The figures below are for the 2026 season.

Site fees are reported to rise by an average of 40 per cent a year. Confirm the current figure at the start of the season and allow for that increase when budgeting.

Road conditions

The roads to 1700, 1800, 1900 and Patara are paved and in good condition. The road to the 1200 site is stony and unsurfaced. That difference affects both the comfort and the duration of the drive if you go up in an operator vehicle.

Getting to the area

The nearest airport to Ölüdeniz is Dalaman, roughly an hour away by road. Airport transfers, local minibuses and taxis are all available.

Before you rent a car

Since private vehicles cannot go up to the takeoff area, a rental car is only useful for getting around locally. A minibus is usually enough to reach the landing area and the cable car station from where you are staying.

Next step

Your registration has to be in place before you go up, see flight registration. To decide which site to launch from, use the wind direction table on takeoff sites.

Fees and transport arrangements can change during the season. For cable car hours and current prices follow the operator's own announcements.
